Now that you know a bit more about Gothic Literature it's time to recognise out how it influences texts today.

Click on the green link below to play an online escape room game. As you go through the game take note and answer the questions below....

*QUESTIONS TO ANSWER*

Sounds - What music or sounds add to the atmosphere and why? 

Words - Put the subtitles on (in any language) so you can clearly see what words are being used by the narrator. Which words or phrases words stand out for you? Which words are scary, persuasive or informative? 

Narration - Do you think this a reliable narrator why/why not? 

Gothic theme - Would you call this game a gothic game? What elements make it gothic or not gothic? 


*HOW TO PLAY THE GAME*

The aim of this game is to escape the room as quickly as possible. As you move around the room and click on objects they will give you hints. You will need to listen to the narrator and follow the clues to escape. There will also be mini challenges to complete.  


*A GUIDE TO THE CONTROLS* 

Move mouse = look around

Left-click = interact with the objects / rotate item in inventory
Right-click = stop interaction
WASD = move
Space = jump
C = crouch
I = inventory
J = diary
T = flashlight
